- I have worked in the surgical ward with 50 beds plus floor beds with patients aged from 5 years and above. The acute bay had 6 beds with post operative patients who had under gone major surgery eg prostatectomy, exploratory laparotomy, total hip replacement, herniotomy , head injuries etc, that was in the male ward. I then moved to the male medical ward. Here l nursed psychiatric patients, cases of mennengitis, thrombocytopenia, sepsis which is common here, urine retention, complicated malaria, anaemia? cause, hypoglycemia, COPD cases and severe asthma, and cases typical of Covid-19 and other resuscitative cases in a 50 bedded ward including TB cases some with MDR TB. I was sick in 2015 and l was moved to a supposably lift duty place, that is the surgical emergency department/ out patients where all the acute surgical cases are received from and first aid conducted before they are taken to the appropriate ward. Now, l work in a female medical ward. Cases are similar to the ones nursed in the male medical ward. All acute admissions are nursed in the acute bay and a nursing care plan is put and a plan for their care implemented right away. I have been working here for 11years
