- As an Optometrist at Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa, my experience has been incredibly rewarding. The hospital has a well-equipped medical facility providing comprehensive eye care services to the community. I have had the opportunity to work with a diverse range of patients, from children to older adults, addressing their vision needs and assisting in the diagnosis and treatment of various eye conditions. My daily responsibilities include conducting comprehensive eye exams, prescribing and fitting contact lenses and spectacle glasses, diagnosing and managing eye diseases, and providing patient education on proper eye care and hygiene. Collaborating with a team of dedicated professionals, including Ophthalmologists, Opticians, and support staff, has allowed for efficient and coordinated patient care. Working in FMC Yenagoa has made me well grounded in Retinoscopy, Slit lamp, Autorefraction and Ophthalmoscopy. I also gained opportunities for professional development and continuous learning through seminars and online researches. Being able to positively impact people's lives, improve their vision, and contribute to their overall well-being has made my experience as an Optometrist in FMC Yenagoa truly fulfilling.
